I must face the likely prospect
Though it pains me to concede
Just as Moses only saw the Good Land
I’ll only glimpse the Kingdom coming
But not pass over in my time
Before falling into Sheol
Into the common grave I’ll go
My body crumbling into dust
Pray not manure upon the ground!
Instead a good seed deeply buried
Lying content peaceful and dormant
Until right conditions awaken
Then like the vines we’ve seen before
Though buried under ancient walls
Somehow burst through concrete stone
With the might of many Samson’s
I too shall push my way up and through
To the warm sun’s vibrant brightness
How many nations have been churned?
How many bygone eras blended?
They go to a hades all their own
We find their bones in sand and sea
Under hills and deep dense jungle
Once here, once there…now only shards
With the eye of a soaring eagle
Geoglyphs drape the horizon
Tales of lost empires abound
And crop circles simply astound
None know how pyramids were built
Nor why dinosaurs disappeared
Our world is full of mysteries
Seems it once was unbroken Pangea
A strong hand shook and tumbled
The mountains into the seas
And tore the lands asunder
Earth’s plates screeched like thunder
Blew the lids off of volcanoes
Reshaped continental masses
Rivers cut new routes inland
Roamy dirt turned into sand
Glaciated vistas completely melted
While full-leafed forests flash-froze
All those kingdoms they say existed
Just artifacts found in shoveled dirt
When over time our aching planet
Resettled from its earthly shattering
Its rain and sun and clouds back in sync
All kinds of seed awoke and sprouted
In the rich compost of ancients
Their storied parts tilled and plowed
Became good fodder for plant uptake
It was a garden resurrection
Now pray the ‘seed’ of my life
Lay patient within this hallowed earth
Protected dry intact and resting
Until in fallow ground it senses
The first drops of ‘waters of life’
Again saturating awakening enlivening
