O what that serpent has wrought among man
From the very beginning he meddled
Meddled in what was God’s perfection
A shimmering green blue sweet-smelling
Alive growing swarming raining snowing
Sun-basked ocean-wave roiling world
That sustained its massive food chain
From minutest microbe to tall man
All kinds of life ran free
Flew long swam deep
Roamed far and wide
On hillsides valley mountains and plain
Jungle icelands and forested woods
All creatures great and small
From ants to zebras millions of kinds
Enjoyed survived and thrived
God had provided all
But that ol’ serpent supposed a thought
To the kind that could think a thought
Who could formulate an idea
And could visualize the morrow
To the man kind he proposed
‘You could be like the One who made you’
‘Do what He does and know what He knows’
The man kind thought ‘well why not’?
And what has that daring thought wrought?
The plains covered over with cities of concrete
And endless miles of smelly asphalt
The mountains sliced through for coal mining
As well as suburban tract homes
The trees logged relentlessly to build them
But also cut down if they block ‘views’
Or worst wound of all milled for throwaway trash
For writing upon and butt-wiping
The copious waters of rivers and lakes wasted
Fracking small bits of toxic shale oil and gas
That befoul the clean air all kinds need to breathe
And some say even melting earth’s glaciers
There is war war and rumors of world war
There is vast disparity in goods food and wealth
Millions die untreated versus few with good health
Even the poor in this world have a cell phone
Most in wealthy nations a plasma TV and a car
Almost all have been roped in by ‘technology’
Own a computer or have access to one nearby
It’s all woven together by electrum
Radiation frequencies pulses and lasers
Sent hither and yon to all points of the earth
By way of power lines and satellites
Thus trussing the earth and all of its kinds
In a strait jacket all of man’s making
We get zapped all manner of ways each day
In satanic electrotherapy for the crazy
Enduring autism in our young and alzheimers
In controlling our thoughts that ol’ serpent built
A New Babylon Tower past the clouds
As ever heavenward an empire he’d sought
We can now see what exactly we’ve wrought
We’ve self-built an invisible prison
